Majors: Spanish; Journalism with a concentration in Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Tips for success within your major and college: "Two of the most important keys to success in Spanish or any other language major are practicing outside of class and going outside of your comfort zone. There are countless resources that you can utilize outside of class including music, news, podcasts, and literature that will strengthen your abilities in any language. Additionally, it is critical to practice speaking the language so I recommend pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself to speak with others who speak the language. Though it can be intimidating, it will vastly improve your abilities, both in speaking and comprehension."
What I wish I knew as a freshmen: "Students in college don't care what your classification is, so don't be afraid to branch out and get to know people, even if they aren't a fellow freshman. UNT is a welcoming community and you can meet great people of all classifications."
A campus office or service I recommend: "I highly recommend utilizing the UNT Rec Center as a great, healthy way to take a break and to de-stress. The Rec Center has opportunities for everyone regardless of your level of physical fitness and provides a great environment to relax and stay in shape."
Career goals: "My career goal after graduation is to become a police officer and eventually work my way up into police administration. I hope to be able to combat injustices in the criminal justice system and improve the relationships between officers and the communities they serve."
Hobbies: "I'm a huge sports fan, specifically football and baseball. I also play percussion and enjoy playing with my dog, Cocoa."
