RTFP Studio Theatre (RTFP 132)
Based off the infamous 1925 case of Ruth Snyder who murdered her husband after starting
an affair, this play follows the life of young Helen and how life leads her down this
dangerous path. Set in New York in the 1920s, Helen's life as a telephone operator
changes quickly once her boss proposes to her at work. Between the lines, this play
captures the ideas of prioritizing capitalism over emotional needs, while punctuating
the sexism that occurs in a male dominated world.

Cabaret is a musical set in 1930s Berlin, at the Kit Kat Klub, a decadent nightclub.
The story centers on Sally Bowles, a carefree British singer, and Cliff Bradshaw,
an American writer who becomes her lover. As they navigate their relationship, the
political climate outside grows increasingly dangerous with the rise of the Nazi Party.
The musical contrasts the vibrant, hedonistic club scenes with the harsh realities
of a society on the brink of fascism. Themes of love, political repression, and the
fragility of personal lives are explored. With its memorable songs like "Cabaret"
and "Maybe This Time," the show portrays a vibrant yet precarious world on the brink
of change.

begins to emerge. Burke and Hare, two local lodge owners, find a more lucrative business
plan in ‘finding’ fresher corpse for a larger reward. When more and more bodies start

The First Stage Series Presents: Black Snow
Join us for an artistic look at bureaucratuc absurdity
“Black Snow” is a darkly comedic play by Mikhail Bulgakov, adapted from his novel
of the same name. The story follows Sergei Maksudov, a struggling writer who finds
himself entangled in the chaotic and absurd world of the Soviet theater. As Maksudov’s
novel is adapted into a play, he navigates the eccentricities of directors, actors,
and bureaucrats, all while grappling with his own creative frustrations. “Black Snow”
offers a satirical and biting critique of the artistic process and the often surreal
nature of life under a repressive regime. With its sharp wit and poignant observations,
this play provides a unique and entertaining look at the trials and tribulations of
a writer caught in a whirlwind of artistic madness.
The First Stage Series Presents: No Exit
Join us, in a room, no windows, no doors, and... No Exit
“No Exit” is a powerful existentialist play by Jean-Paul Sartre that delves into the
human psyche and the nature of hell. The story revolves around three characters—Garcin,
Inez, and Estelle—who find themselves locked in a mysterious room together after death.
As they interact, they gradually realize that their eternal punishment is to be each
other’s tormentors. Through sharp dialogue and intense psychological exploration,
“No Exit” examines themes of guilt, self-deception, and the inescapable nature of
human relationships. Sartre’s famous line, “Hell is other people,” encapsulates the
play’s central message, making it a thought-provoking and enduring piece of modern
theater.
