Courtney Welch

• Late 19th and Early 20th Century American History and Southern History

I hold a MA in History from Baylor University and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration and Law and a Ph.D in History both from the University of North Texas. I teach a variety of courses including American History survey to upper level courses focusing on the late 19th and early 20th centuries. My research interests include the Great Depression and New Deal, New South, Gilded Age, Progressive Era and Labor history. I want my students to think of history as not solely an impressive recitation of names and dates, but rather a long interwoven tale of complex social, cultural, and political forces. I live in Denton, Texas with my husband and two children.
