Background & Research Interests
Dr. Slavish is a health psychologist with expertise in behavioral sleep medicine,
longitudinal methods, and psychoneuroimmunology. Her work uses a biopsychosocial framework,
exploring how sleep disturbances and stressful life experiences impact health across
time. Dr. Slavish's research draws on naturalistic designs and passive monitoring
techniques, and she is particularly interested in statistical approaches to analyzing
intensive longitudinal data. Her current work is examining how irregular sleep patterns
and sleep reactivity (the tendency to experience sleep disruption in the face of stress)
impact mental health, cardiometabolic health, and healthcare utilization. The goal
of this research is to inform the development of more effective behavioral sleep medicine
and lifestyle medicine interventions.
