Background &amp; Teaching Interest

Dr. Anderton Chavez is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director of the University of North Texas Psychology Clinic. She spends much of her time supervising students during their practica in the Clinic and serves as the point-of-contact for students on externship. Dr. Anderton Chavez has extensive experience working with survivors of interpersonal trauma, individuals affected by depression, anxiety, grief and loss, complicated family relationships, and supporting immigrant communities. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural psychologist, she values the important role that culture, heritage, and community play in the well-being of the students and clients she works with.
 
Before UNT, Dr. Anderton Chavez worked in non-profit community mental health and private practice.
