Background & Research Interests
Dr. Joshua N. Hook is a Professor and Program Director (Director of Clinical Training) in the Counseling Psychology Program at the University of North Texas and is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. His work focuses on positive psychology, religion and spirituality, and multicultural counseling, with a particular emphasis on cultural humility.
 
Dr. Hook has authored several books, including Cultural Humility: Engaging Diverse Identities in Therapy and The Complete Researcher: A Practical Guide for Graduate Students and Early Career Professionals. He has an extensive publication record and has received multiple grants from the John Templeton Foundation to support his research. His contributions have been recognized with early career awards from multiple divisions of the American Psychological Association.
 
Outside of his academic work, Dr. Hook enjoys running, practicing karate, and cheering on the Chicago Bears. He lives in Texas with his wife and two children.
