UNTangeled Shakespeare Festival:
A new theatre company operating under the auspices of the University of North Texas
Department of Dance and Theatre, UNTangeled Shakespeare Festival is launching its
inaugural season.
Our Inaugural Season, presented in partnership with Fair Assembly, features Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream directed by Nathan Autrey and Macbeth directed by Sara Romesberger performed in repertory
The festival runs from June 4 through June 28, 2027, with evening shows starting at 8pm and matinees at 2pm.

About Midsummer Night's Dream:
A Midsummer Night's Dream, a celebrated Shakespearean comedy, follows the chaotic and magical misadventures
of four young Athenians—Hermia, Lysander, Helena, and Demetrius. Their romantic entanglements
escalate during a night in an enchanted forest inhabited by fairies. The confusion
is largely driven by the mischievous fairy Puck, whose errors with a potent love potion
cause the lovers to erratically shift their affections. Adding to the absurdity, one
of the local workmen, Bottom, is magically given the head of an ass and subsequently
falls victim to the love-drugged Fairy Queen's affections. By the dawn, order is miraculously
restored, culminating in a joyful triple wedding for the reunited lovers and the Duke.
About Macbeth:
Macbeth, set in Scotland, involves witchcraft, prophecy, and murder. Three witches prophesy that Macbeth will become king and Banquo's descendants will reign. Prompted by this, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plot to assassinate guest King Duncan. Following the murder, Duncan's sons flee, and Macbeth takes the throne. Fearing the prophecy about Banquo's heirs, Macbeth orders Banquo killed. After seeing Banquo's ghost at a banquet, Macbeth seeks out the witches again, who offer ambiguous reassurance. When nobleman Macduff flees to England to support Duncan's son Malcolm, Macbeth retaliates by murdering Macduff's family. As Lady Macbeth loses her mind and dies by suicide, Malcolm and Macduff lead an army against Macbeth. Relying on the witches' deceptive promises, Macbeth fights the invading army. He realizes he was misled but continues battling until Macduff kills him, allowing Malcolm to become king of Scotland.
