Background & Teaching Interests
Dr. Jennifer Schwartz is a board-certified licensed psychologist (Texas, 2023–present;
previously Delaware and Pennsylvania; PSYPACT authorized since 2021) and Full Clinical
Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Texas, where
she serves as Director of the Psychology Clinic. A Diplomate of the American Board
of Professional Psychology in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (since 2021), she brings
extensive expertise in clinical training, supervision, ethics, and evidence-based
cognitive-behavioral approaches to her leadership of the university's training clinic,
which provides accessible, high-quality mental health services to the diverse North
Texas community while preparing doctoral students in clinical and counseling psychology
programs. With a career spanning over two decades as a training clinic director—including
inaugural roles at Drexel University and earlier at the University of Delaware—Dr.
Schwartz has built innovative clinic infrastructures, developed specialty practices
addressing needs such as trauma, perinatal mental health, justice-involved individuals
(including exonerees), and integrated behavioral health, and secured significant grant
funding to expand interdisciplinary training and reduce disparities in access to care.
As the immediate past-President of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics
(APTC), she is a nationally recognized leader in advancing psychology education, supervision
competencies, ethical practice, and bridging science and practice in training environments,
complemented by her scholarly contributions, awards (including the 2025 Jean Spruill
Achievement Award), and commitment to transformative, competency-focused clinical
supervision and community impact.

Commitment to Science
Dr. Schwartz believes that all clinical work should be informed by science and that
all clinical work can contribute to the science of the field. Therefore, she is committed
to training in best-practices, utilization of evidence-based principles of change,
data-driven decision making, and the facilitation of research in the training setting.
Her personal research interests focus around best-practices in supervision and training.
While Dr. Schwartz will support student research at the clinic, she does not have
her own lab and does not take graduate students as a primary mentor.
