Why Study Arabic?
Arabic is the official language of 22 countries stretching from the Arabian Gulf in the East to Morocco in the West. It is the native language of around 300 million people and is the language of Islam. Arabic speakers are in high demand many fields including as business executives in global companies, international lawyers, diplomats and foreign affairs specialists, as Arabic language teachers, intelligence analysts, and many more.
Minor in Arabic
A minor in Arabic consists of a minimum of 18 semester hours in Arabic, including 6 advanced hours. Demonstration of proficiency may be substituted for credit in courses equivalent to ARBC 1010 through ARBC 2050. A minimum grade of C is required for a course to count toward the minor.
Transfer Credit and Placement Test
Placement for credit by examination may be used to satisfy ARBC 1010-2050 or by transferring credits from another institution approved by UNT. To schedule a placement test for Arabic, please email Dr. Caroline Najour at caroline.najour@unt.edu
