Bio

Johnathan Paul is a professional filmmaker and published author. He is also an adjunct faculty member in UNT's Department of Media Arts where he teaches film production, screenwriting, producing, motion design, and game studies. He received his formal film education at the University of North Texas and NYU Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a Post Graduate Film Producing Certification in 2021. The submitted film for that program was “Harsh”, which ended up becoming the proof of concept for the feature film released in 2025 as Harsh Treatment.

Harsh Treatment, won Best Western at the Cannes Film Awards 2025, Best Comedy at the Los Angeles Film Awards, 2nd National Grand Prize at BEA 2025, Best Picture Finalist at the Hollywood Independent Filmmakers Festival, and Best Picture Finalist at the Dallas International Film Festival. The film won a total of 23 awards at over 10 festivals for directing, cinematography, editing, and cast.

When not teaching Paul works in the film and television industry as a writer and producer, as well as an author of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. He has more than 15 years of professional marketing, film, and writing experience with companies such as Shutterstock, Datalus Pictures, Sony Pictures Television, Paramount, and more.
