Join us at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2026! The trip is designed as an on-the-ground learning experience at North America's most prestigious film festival. The GIO program is a one-week trip that will provide students with hands-on experience at a major international film festival and market, including major film premieres and red carpets, TIFF Industry conference panels, master class workshops, and networking with media professionals.

  • UNT Study Abroad Scholarships Deadline: March 31, 2026 (Apply ASAP before program acceptance)
  • Study Abroad Application Deadline: May 1, 2026
Eligibility

The Fall 2026 program is open to MRTS and CBCM juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.  Students must also have completed one of the following courses before Fall 2026 OR be enrolled in one the following classes offered during Fall 2026:

  • MRTS 3615 Understanding Media Industries (Fall 2026)
  • MRTS 4360/5460 Global Media (Fall 2026)
  • MRTS 4450/5660 Topics course in Media Industry Studies - Media Franchising (Fall 2026)
