Raina Joines is a creative writer who has been granted residencies from Blue Mountain Center, the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, and the Lillian E. Smith Center. Her poems may be found in Crab Orchard Review, Chattahoochee Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Measure, Painted Bride Quarterly, St. Katharine Review, Unlost Journal, and Grist: A Journal of the Literary Arts. Her prose is out in The Fourth River, I-70 Review, and Essay Daily. Her text-based collage has been exhibited at the Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick Gallery.

Recently, she was an NEH Summer Seminar Fellow at "Take Note and Remember: The Commonplace Book and its American Descendants," attended the Letterpress Printing and Fine Press Publishing Seminar for Emerging Writers at the Center for Book Arts in New York, and presented "The Scholar's Art: Making & Mining Material Artifacts" at the Bibliography Among the Disciplines Conference in Philadelphia.

Ms. Joines is affiliate faculty in Women's and Gender Studies and serves as the faculty advisor for the North Texas Review. She teaches courses in creative writing, 20th & 21st century American literature, literary interpretation and analysis, and media and popular culture.

She is a recipient of the J.H. Shelton Excellence in Teaching Award at UNT.
