The theme of CLASS’ mission is simple yet powerful: Helping our students of Tomorrow, NOW! In this initiative, the CLASS Executive Dean’s Office is encouraging faculty and staff to not only donate but also reflect on the importance of community support and mutual care. As we gather non-perishable food items and toiletries, we are reminded of the resilience and solidarity that defines the CLASS culture.
The Heart of the Drive: Faculty and Staff Helping Students
At its core, this food pantry emphasizes the idea of faculty and staff helping students. Many college students face financial challenges that limit their access to necessities, and UNT’s food pantry plays a critical role in ensuring that no student on campus goes hungry. The CLASS Executive Dean’s Office believes that everyone has something to give, whether it’s a canned good, a warm meal, or simply the act of spreading awareness. It’s a collective effort, and each donation carries a message of care, understanding, and gratitude.
Giving Thanks by Giving Back
Why focus on thankfulness? Because gratitude is at the heart of giving. Whether it's faculty members who have been part of the campus for years, or students who are just beginning their journey, there’s an acknowledgment that we all benefit from the help of others at some point in our lives. This initiative is a way to express thanks by supporting those who need it most.
And for those who find themselves in need, the pantry is a reminder that they are not alone. Receiving a donation isn’t just about getting food or supplies—it’s about feeling connected to a community that cares deeply about the well-being of every individual.
How to Participate
The UNT food pantry partnered with Kroger to function year-round. The CLASS Executive Dean’s office has donation boxes located in the General Academic Building 210. Donations can be dropped off anytime Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm. Suggested donations include canned vegetables, pasta, rice, shelf-stable proteins, hygiene products, and household essentials. But more than anything, the Executive Dean’s Office is asking donors to think beyond the item and consider the impact it will have on the student who receives it.
More Than Just a Donation
The CLASS Executive Dean’s Office believes that the UNT food pantry is about more than stocking shelves—it’s about building a stronger, more connected community. Every can, every box, and every gesture of support is a step toward creating a university where students can thrive without the constant worry of basic needs.
As we embark on this mission, let’s remember that thankfulness and connection is a powerful motivator. Whether you’re able to give a little or a lot, every contribution counts. Together, we can ensure that all students, regardless of their circumstances, feel the warmth and support of a college and campus that truly cares.
In a time when many are facing uncertainty, the CLASS Executive Dean’s Office is hopeful that this food pantry initiative will remind everyone of the power of giving. It’s not just about providing food—it’s about fostering a spirit of thankfulness, helping hands, and connecting people to people. Let’s come together to ensure that no student goes without, and let’s be thankful for the opportunity to make a difference.
