Eligibility

This scholarship is a fund created in memory of Charles T. Newell (1898-1977) and Mildred L. Newell (1905-1995), the parents of UNT alumna Charldean Newell. Charles Newell graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, minor in economics, and for many years served as the chief cereal chemist for Burrus Mills in Fort Worth. Mildred Newell attended Mary Hardin Baylor University and Trinity University, studying music and literature. She held diverse positions, including those of decorator, teacher, and freight manager, before her marriage in 1937. This scholarship is for the support of undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at UNT who have demonstrated academic promise.
