We're Raising Money for Excellence!

As the University of North Texas' largest and most diverse college, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is home to twenty-five departments and programs covering a wide range of disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and performing arts. Our Executive Dean, Dr. Tamara. L Brown's top priority is fostering diversity and inclusion within the college while preparing our students to be engaged, well-rounded, global citizens upon graduation. Our Dean is committed to not only further developing diversity and inclusion in our student population, but also have it be reflected in our faculty, staff and curriculum.

Nearly 9,000 students are currently pursuing a CLASS degree at UNT, and their success would not be possible without the generosity of alumni and loyal supporters like you. Your support is an investment in our students, our faculty and our potential.

Dean's Priorities

Faculty and Grad Research

As a Tier One University, we aspire to recruit, retain and reward superb faculty by creating and endowing faculty positions, support faculty as they continue their research, and embolden faculty to stay competitive for national and international grants and awards. Your investment will drive faculty, research and scholarly activity.

Student Success

In the college we encourage students to grow beyond the classroom by increasing the quality and availability of internships, extracurricular activities, study-abroad programs and experiential programs with a focus on preparing students for the workforce upon graduation. Our Professionalization with CLASS series is designed to help our students recognize how their broad range of critical thinking, decision-making, oral and written communication skills prepares them for a job in a variety of industries.

We also offer scholarships that encourage student retention. One scholarship in particular is the new Eagles with Mettle Scholarship, developed to provide middle income students who are not eligible for grants and financial aid with support to finish their education without taking out excessive student loans.

Urgent Funding Priorities

Moot Court is one of the most engaging and successful extracurricular student organizations at UNT. Support this nationally ranked program offering students experiential, curricular, and travel opportunities in law and policy competitions arguing the most important issues of our times here.

The Debate team is committed to excellence in public policy debate at the national and regional levels and attends fifteen to twenty tournaments each year. They engage in several outreach programs designed to expand and support the academic debate community and foster argumentation education. These activities include a high school debate tournament, a college debate tournament and a summer workshop for high school students (the Mean Green Workshops). Support the Debate Team here.

It takes sustained monetary commitment to accomplish the above. Here are some ways to give and show your support for our students, faculty and future.

Matching Gifts

Search for your employer

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to this organization may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

Estate planning

Whether you want to experience your impact firsthand or fulfill your philanthropic goals after your lifetime, when you include CLASS in your estate plan, you're providing our students with the opportunity to think bigger, go further and tap into their fullest potential for years to come.
