Welcome To Dance
ABOUT OUR DANCE PROGRAMOur UNT Dance program is proud to have dedicated faculty members
who are not only exceptional educators but also professional artists actively engaged
with national and international studios and companies. Our dance faculty approach
movement and teaching from a variety of perspectives and emphasize a kinesiological
and somatic approach.Our program currently offers a Dance Minor and starting Fall
2026-2027 we will add a BA in Theatre with a concentration in Dance, as well as four
certificates in Studio Teaching, Choreography and Performance, Dance Wellness, and
Team Performance! We focus on the education of the whole individual in preparation
for careers in performance, teaching, arts administration, and graduate progams.A minor

Choreography and Performance
We offer faculty, guest artist, and student-led choreography concerts and productions.
Our faculty and students attend and present work at the American College Dance Association
(ACDA) regional dance conference.
We hosted Texas Dance Improvisation Festival (TDIF) in 2019 and 2024.
Our recent guest artists include:
Cesar Brodermann: Multidisciplinary, International, Queer, Contemporary Dancer, and
Choreographer
FlockWorks Dance: International choreographers and performers working with dance companies,
universities, and cultural institutions
Black Label Movement: A dance company focused on intense physical, critically contemporary,
and engaging movement driven art
Hailey Summers: Dallas-based movement artist specializing in freelance, choreography,
storytelling, and dance education.
Do I need to Audition?
No audition required for our program.
Are there Scholarships available?
Yes, we offer Dance scholarships for Majors and Minors based on merit and talent.

What other opportunities are there?
We have unique opportunities to learn and work on technical design and aspects of
performance such as costumes, makeup, lighting, and stage management.
Are there any student organizations?
We host the Chi Tau Epsilon Dance Honors Society, a philanthropic group focused on
building community at UNT and the surrounding area.
