New Scholarship Created for Middle Income Students

Last fall, Communication Studies alum Mike Murphy worked with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to establish a first-of-its-kind scholarship for CLASS students.

The new Eagles with Mettle Scholarship was created to assist students whose family or personal income is greater than the threshold to receive financial aid, but still leaves them struggling to pay for college.

Mr. Murphy graduated from the University of North Texas in 1999 and found a career in advertising, eventually becoming an early employee at Facebook as its first Vice President of Global Sales. While there, he launched Facebook offices in over twenty countries and helped propel the company to the social media giant we know today.

Applications are open now for the Eagles with Mettle Scholarship for the 2021-22 Academic Year. We are so grateful for Mr. Murphy's passion reaching this often-overlooked population and creating a scholarship that serves to mitigate the need for excessive student loans.
