Pre-Law Resources at UNT

UNT offers resources to help students interested in a career as a lawyer make good choices and achieve their goals. Our services are available to all current UNT students, as well as UNT alumni seeking admission to law school.

We are not affiliated with UNT-Dallas' School of Law, and we do not advise for paralegal programs.

Please note, Pre-law is not an academic major at UNT. You should major in something that you will enjoy and in which you can maintain a good GPA. There is no right major for those wanting to go on to law school. Any major will work (including majors in the arts and natural sciences), though we do recommend you take some courses through your undergraduate career that emphasize strong reading, writing, reasoning, and analytical skills to help you prepare for law school.

To learn more and receive information about opportunities and events:

  1. Visit the Pre-Law Resources Canvas Page. Current students can self-enroll in the course so that it appears on your Canvas dashboard and events appear on your Canvas calendar. Alumni should bookmark the Canvas page. The Canvas page includes information about the application process, announcements, and information about appointment availability.
  2. Current students should also ask their academic advisor to "tag" them in Navigate with the tag "pre-law". When we have information about exciting courses, events, and job/internship opportunities, we use Navigate to contact you directly.
  3. Monitor Pre-Law events by visiting the UNT Events Calendar. Look for the icon of stacked dots next to the "Filter" button. Click on those stacked dots, select "Groups," and search for "pre-law". This will pull up all scheduled pre-law events. If you are interested in an event, you can click "Add to Calendar" and the event will be added to your personal calendar.
