The University of North Texas College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Department
of Technical Communication will celebrate World Usability Day on its national holiday,Thursday,
November 10, 2022.
Tech Communication faculty, staff, and students will host activities in the Union
on the third floor from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"This is an opporuntiy for our department to share how technical communicators can
actively make our world easy for everyone", said Ryan Boettger, Associate Professor
and Chair.
Each year a theme is chosen, and according to the World Usability Day website this
year's theme is "Our Health", where they look to explore systems that provide healthcare
in all its many forms such as telehealth, electronic health records, healthcare products
and other digital health related solutions.
The day is celebrated to promote the importance of making products and services more
user-friendly. On the day, businesses and organizations come together to share their
ideas on how they are making a difference in the world through usability. It is about
celebration and education--celebrating the strides we have made in creating usable
products and educating the masses about how usability impacts our daily lives.
World Usability Day, or Make Things Easier Day, founded in 2005 by the Usability Professionals
Association, is celebrated annually on the second Thursday in November. Each year,
events occur around the world that bring together different communities to celebrate
how we can make our world easy for all.
