The American Yawp is a massively collaborative, open history textbook project that draws upon the shared
efforts of historians to minimize textbook costs for students. First launched in 2014
through the collective labor of over 300 academic historians and offered at no cost
to students, it has grown to become one of the most widely assigned U.S. history textbooks
in colleges and universities across the country, ensuring that textbook costs are
no barrier to student success. It is, however, a living project with ongoing costs
and new initiatives, including new open history texts, such as The Texas Yawp: An
Open History of the Lone Star State.

remain free and open for all.
