Dissertation Title: "Holy Abortion: Reproductive Justice and the Church in Texas 1967-1973" (in progress)
Bio: I am a third year PhD candidate focusing on the relationship between Christianity, conservatism, and reproductive rights in contemporary American history. My dissertation focuses on liberal clergy pro-abortion activism from in Texas 1967-1973. I am interested in the evolution of modern conservatism and how politics became so deeply intwined with religion and the female body. I am fascinated with the intersection of contemporary American Protestantism and conservative politics. Utilizing the interdisciplinary nature of my educational career, I aim to expand our knowledge and understanding of Christian activism to create a holistic historical narrative that elucidates the lived experiences of women in Texas and the clergy they turned to for help.
