WELCOME GRADUATES!
Graduate classes normally include about eight to fifteen students, enabling each student to receive close personal attention from their professor. Most classes fall into two categories, "studies" and "seminars." Studies courses generally include extensive reading assignments on a focused topic along with substantial writing assignments. Seminars are designed to teach students how to conduct research grounded in primary sources and present the results of that research to a wider audience. After coursework, doctoral students move on to their dissertation, focused and immersive research projects pursued under the guidance of faculty mentors.
Our graduate students participate in national and international conferences. They publish their research in peer-reviewed journals, books, and other forums, and they win awards and other recognitions for their impressive and innovative scholarship. After completing graduate work at UNT, our students have become professors, instructors, lecturers, curators, consultants, published authors, and even Jeopardy! champions https://class.unt.edu/history/graduate/placement.html .
