CLASS Alum Mark "Hawkeye" Louis Named Marconi Radio Awards Finalist

The University of North Texas College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Department of Media Arts alum Mark "Hawkeye" Louis was recently named a Marconi Radio Awards finalist in the Major Market Personality of the Year category.

The honor, presented by the National Association of Broadcasters, paired Louis and co-host Michelle Rodriguez with a field of four nominees from Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston markets.

Louis is the host of Hawkeye in the Morning on 96.3 KSCS, which is the longest-running FM show in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas. He has been waking up 96.3 KSCS listeners for 30+ years (1988), which took home this year's National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award for Country Radio Station of the Year. It's the first time the station has won the honor.

In 2020, Louis was named to the Country Radio Hall of Fame On-Air Personality for his accomplishments in music radio, a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, winner of the Billboard Air Personality of the Year, and the Academy of Country Music Major Market Personality of the Year. Meanwhile, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film (1983).

Louis is an active supporter of the DFW community through his work for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Cook Children's, and Cook Children's summer camp for kids living with cancer, Camp Sanguinity. Mark is the past chairman of the BMW Dallas Marathon and has written two books, the critically acclaimed novel The Travis Club and the local bestselling guidebook San Antonio Uncovered.

An avid traveler, mark also hosts his podcast travel show, "Travel with Hawkeye" since 2012.
